Breakfast as one of the most important meals of the day and can set the tone for how you eat for the rest of the day. Check out these ideas for eating a healthy breakfast.


We live in a fast paced society which means that we don’t always have time to eat properly, but breakfast is very important. Perhaps it is the most important meal of the day. Which is why we must make sure to eat a fulfilling and nutritional breakfast every day. It helps us maintain a healthy weight, gives us energy to start the day, and helps prevent low blood sugar which can lead to fogginess, inability to concentrate and general grumpiness.


We’re lucky that breakfast is a meal which can be put together quickly and even eaten on the run. Below are a few quick, healthy breakfast ideas for anyone.


-Homemade trail mixes


Trail mixes in the store are very expensive, but if you buy all the ingredients for your very own trail mix it ends up being quite cheap. Plus, trail mix is filled with a variety of flavors to satisfy the appetite, fill the tummy and which are very healthy for you.


Try creating breakfast trail mixes with nuts, such; as almonds, walnuts or cashews and dried fruits like cherries, raisins, pineapple or bananas. This will cover the sweet and sugary flavors that we crave and provide fat and proteins for our body. If you are also looking for something salty or spicy in the morning throw in pretzels, cheese crackers or spicy wasabi peas. Place in ziplock baggies to grab and go.


-Breakfast burrito


If you want something that's warm in the morning try assembling breakfast burritos every week to heat up before you go into work. You can buy a package of flour tortillas, grilled chicken, eggs whites and cheese and a little salsa for flavor to make your own homemade healthy breakfast burritos.


Scramble and mix the egg whites. Fold 'em up with chicken, cheese and wrap in a paper towel to place in a freezer bag. Then, when you have to eat something quick in the morning just pull out one of the burritos and pop it in the microwave. It's quick, flavorful and healthy because it replaces the fat of sausage with lean chicken, and removes the yolk of eggs that may raise your cholesterol. Salsa is also a good way to get vegetables early in the morning.


-Fruit smoothie


This is another breakfast item you'll want to prepare ahead of time. A fruit smoothie is quick, and filled with lots of vitamins and minerals. Simply assemble some of your favorite fruits. Pick up items that go well together, such as strawberries and bananas or oranges. The night before clean the fruits and chop into chunks. If you have something like apples that will oxidize, simply leave them until the next day to chop. The blender can probably be placed on a counter top.


In the morning, place your chopped fruits in the blender with several ice cubes and blend until smooth. This makes a quick and healthy breakfast smoothie.
