Health Insurance tips

There's nothing wrong with wanting to buy your health insurance at a sensible and low price - everyone wants to and many do. Follow these 3 new tips and you should find that your premiums reduce.

There is no running away from it, however hard we try. Health insurance costs are climbing and unless some regulation of pricing comes into effect (unlikely!) then the premiums certainly aren't going to get any cheaper. Although you may think this is reason enough to pass on having any form of health insurance - that's NOT a good idea.

But if you are losing sleep about how you are going to afford the monthly / yearly costs or provide an adequate level of cover for everyone in your family, don't get too despondent - there are a few options you can investigate to find health insurance cheap. Did you know that in most states - you can get health cover for things such as emergency visits, dental work, eye care, drugs etc. It's available to those on a low income (which you'll need to prove by completing an application form available from your Division of Family Services and supplying proof of income level) and is called Medicaid.

So, that's option number 1.

Your second option is to search online via the various portal and comparison sites there are. Fill in one form detailing your circumstances and what it is you're looking for and the site goes away and returns within a minute or so with the different "quotes" from a number of insurance companies.

But - wait a sec. The growth of the internet actually creates OPtion Number 3 for you as well - and it's a doozy of a 'flipside' process.

Remember before the internet was available - how did you get quotes and arrange cover then? Simple - over the telephone or in person in some cases.

So - pick up the phone and call around. Start with a couple of quotes from the internet and discuss and negotiate them with each medical cover company you contact. Some companies will say that they don't compete against online quotes (because online companies do not have the overheads they do and therefore have the ability to quote much lower premiums!) but others will talk to you, they will negotiate. As you talk to them, run through each of the various conditions or circumstances that they cover and work out - how much would be removed from the monthly premium if that wasn't included.

By running through all the elements - you'll be surprised just what you can thin out and how much money it will save you. Obviously the best option is to have as much covered as possible but if you can't afford to cover everything, it's better to have somethings covered than nothing at all!
